119 Thais deported from Cambodia after scam hub raided NHK

Scores of Thai people working at a scam center in Cambodia have been deported to Thailand. Thai authorities are trying to identify who among them were trafficked and which ones are criminals.



Cambodian authorities raided the fraud hub in the border town of Poipet last month, freeing 230 foreign nationals.
Thai officials say 119 Thais were among them. They were sent back across the border to Thailand on Saturday.



Thai police suspect some went to Cambodia voluntarily to trick people out of their money in online scams. They'll face criminal charges and their assets will be seized to pay back the people they ripped off.



Thousands of foreigners, including Chinese people, have been found in scam factories in Myanmar. Some of those placed in protective custody are suspected to belong to the organized crime groups running the scams.
