They added that the death toll in Gaza has risen to 45,317 since October 7, 2023.

A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas still looks distant. Israeli media outlets reported that talks on a ceasefire and hostage release deal in Gaza had made some progress, but sticking points remained, such as how many hostages Hamas will release.

A ballistic missile launched by the rebels hit Israel's largest commercial city of Tel Aviv on Saturday, wounding 16 people, according to local media reports.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suggested retaliation against the Houthi militants. He said on Sunday that, "Just as we acted forcefully against the terrorist arms of Iran's axis of evil, so we will act against the Houthis."
