Police: Items worth less than $5,000 taken in Tokyo robbery-murder case NHK

Tokyo police have found that perpetrators who broke into a home in Komae City and killed a 90-year-old resident made off with three watches and a ring.

Investigators suspect members of a group instructed by leaders who use the names "Luffy" and "Kim" were likely involved in the robbery-murder case earlier this month.

They say the stolen items are worth a total of 600,000 yen, or about 4,600 dollars, and that they found the watches in a rented car they believe was used in the Komae case.

They also say that a mobile phone left in the car had a message sent by "Kim" before the robbery-murder occurred. It contained the address of the Komae home.

"Luffy" and "Kim" are believed to have sent such messages from the Philippines to people who were recruited via social media to carry out a string of robberies in Tokyo and elsewhere.
