The summit of the Group of 20 economies in Bali, Indonesia, came to a close on Wednesday with the leaders adopting a declaration. The declaration said, "Most members strongly condemned the war in Ukraine." But it also acknowledged, "There were other views and different assessments of the situation and sanctions." Summit attendees included leaders of the European Union, the United States, as well as China and India. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov participated in the talks on behalf of President Vladimir Putin. Wednesday's schedule at the summit was disrupted by an emergency meeting to discuss reports of a missile landing in Polish territory near Ukraine. The leaders reached an agreement on the declaration in the afternoon session. The Indonesian government, which hosted the summit, released the document. It stressed the war in Ukraine was "causing immense human suffering and exacerbating existing fragilities in the global economy." It also notes the positions of Moscow and some countries that have not imposed economic sanctions on Russia. In an apparent opposition to Russia, the declaration says, "The use or threat of use of nuclear weapons is inadmissible." It goes on to say, "The peaceful resolution of conflicts, efforts to address crises, as well as diplomacy and dialogue, are vital. Today's era must not be of war."
