Children in western Japan are being brought together aboard a ship redesigned into a library by a renowned architect. The floating haven with about 2,000 books is named "Children's Book Ship Honnomori gou." Ando Tadao designed and donated the ship to Kagawa Prefecture. It began operations in April this year. On Tuesday, five elementary students from Ogijima island sailed to Naoshima island on Honnomori gou to meet pupils there. The children had interacted with each other online, but it was the first time they met in person. The children enjoyed sharing favorites found in the library and reading together. They also held a quiz event on various topics at a local elementary school. A fourth grader from Ogijima said he was amazed that the school on Naoshima was large. He hopes Naoshima students will come to Ogijima next time. A sixth grader from Naoshima said she had seen Ogijima students only on the screen, so she was happy to meet them for the first time. She said they were more lively than she expected, and she had a good time. ---------------- Quiz 1: Where did the Children's Book Ship Honnomori gou begin operations this year? A. Tokyo B.
