Humanitarian crisis worsens in Gaza after 3 months of direct fighting NHK

The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip is worsening as the Israeli army continued to pound various places, including southern parts of the enclave on Saturday.

Sunday marks three months since Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel on October 7.

The Israeli military announced on Saturday that their operations resulted in removing Hamas fighters, and destroying weapons depots in Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

Hamas announced that they attacked Israeli soldiers with explosives in the outskirts of Khan Younis.

Health authorities in Gaza said on Saturday that the Israeli strikes had killed at least 122 Palestinians in the previous 24 hours. It said that the number of deaths has risen to 22,722.

The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, or UNRWA, says that since October 7, the Israeli attacks have displaced up to 1.9 million people, or over 85 percent of the population of Gaza.

The Lebanon-based Shia militant group Hezbollah said it launched more than 60 rockets toward northern Israel on Saturday, and that the Israeli military responded by striking targets in southern Lebanon.
