Ukrainian officials have joined landmine-removal training in central Japan's Yamanashi Prefecture amid the continued Russian invasion. Nine members from Ukraine's State Emergency Service on Tuesday took part in the session held by the Japan International Cooperation Agency, or JICA, and others. The members visited Nikken, a manufacturer of landmine-clearing machines. They were briefed by company officials on characteristics of the latest model and how to use it. The Ukrainians watched demonstrations on how to dig up a mine buried in the land and remove fallen trees from the vicinity. The officials then tried operating the mine-clearing machine. Ukrainian State Emergency Service official Denys Chorny said the machine will be useful for the removal of landmines from around infrastructure, which must be conducted quickly for people to return to normal lives. The president of Nikken, Amemiya Makoto, said he hopes that landmines in Ukraine will be cleared as soon as possible through the expertise of his company, whose mine-removing machines are used in 11 countries.
