Ohtani's walk-off homer extends LA Dodgers' winning streak to 8 NHK

In Major League Baseball, Ohtani Shohei of the Los Angeles Dodgers hit a walk-off homer in a game against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday. The Dodgers extended their unbeaten winning streak to eight since the start of the season.

Ohtani started in the home game as the first batter and designated hitter.

Ohtani stepped to the plate for his fifth at-bat in the bottom of the ninth, with one out and no runners on base, with the score tied at 5-5.

He slammed the first pitch -- an outside changeup -- to center, for the game-ending solo homer. The Dodgers beat the Braves 6-5.

It was Ohtani's third home run this season, and his first in five games.

It was also his first walk-off homer since August last year, when he belted a walk-off grand slam to reach the milestone of 40 home runs and stolen bases in one season.

Speaking after the game, Ohtani praised his teammates, saying their tenacious hard work led to the win.

He said he feels honored and privileged as a baseball player to be able to show a wonderful game in front of so many fans.
