The Belarusian presidential office says President Alexander Lukashenko talked with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, by telephone on Sunday morning. But details of the call remain unclear. The conversation came after the Russian private military company Wagner Group aborted its armed rebellion in Russia late on Saturday. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Wagner's leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, would go to Belarus. Analysts say Putin and Lukashenko may have discussed what they should do. The Belarusian presidential office had earlier announced that the presidents held phone talks twice on Saturday to discuss Wagner. It added Putin expressed support and thanked Lukashenko for his negotiations with the military company.
