Russia, Ukraine continue drone strikes NHK

The Ukrainian military says Russian forces carried out massive drone attacks over a wide area of Ukrainian territory from Saturday to Sunday.

Officials of Ukraine's air force said in a social media post that a total of 108 drones were used in Russia's overnight attacks.

They said Ukraine countered them with air defense units and electronic jamming teams, and shot down Russian drones in Kyiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk and other regions.

They said debris from destroyed drones fell on houses and infrastructure facilities in some regions, resulting in injuries.

The governor of the western Russian region of Oryol said on social media on Saturday that Ukraine's large-scale drone strike set fire to a fuel depot, adding that there were no casualties.

Ukraine and Russia have been engaged in a fierce battle to control the city of Pokrovsk, a transportation hub in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk.

At the same time, they continue to strike each other with drones in locations that are far from frontline areas.
