Police arrest fatal knife attack suspect in Nagano City NHK

Japanese police have arrested a man suspected of a deadly knife attack in Nagano City, central Japan.

The attack on three people took place on Wednesday near a bus stop in front of the city's main train station. One man was killed, and another man and a woman were injured.

Police officials held a news conference on Sunday. They said they have arrested Yaguchi Yusuke, a 46-year-old unemployed man, on suspicion of attempting to kill the woman. Officials say the suspect remains silent about the incident.

Police said video footage from surveillance cameras became a deciding factor in identifying the suspect.

Investigators stormed into an apartment on Sunday morning where the suspect is believed to live.

Police are investigating the case as a random attack, as the two injured victims told investigators that they do not know the attacker.
