Soccer player Endo Wataru suffers head injury in Bundesliga match NHK

Japanese soccer player Endo Wataru of Stuttgart in Germany's top soccer division, the Bundesliga, suffered an injury to his head in a match on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old midfielder was knocked in a clash with an opponent in a penalty area and taken off on a stretcher.

Stuttgart said in its Twitter account that Endo had been unconscious on the pitch, but regained his responsiveness in the ambulance. The team wished him a quick recovery.

Endo has been chosen as a member of the Japanese national team to play in the 2022 World Cup finals, opening later this month in Qatar.

He has played a total of 28 matches on the national team.

In the final Asian qualifiers, he was in the starting lineup in all games except the one against Vietnam, which was held after Japan secured a spot in the finals.
