Weather officials say cold air is flowing into Japan, bringing heavy snow to Hokkaido and Japan Sea side of the Honshu main island.
They say up to one meter of snow is expected in Niigata Prefecture over the 24 hours through Monday morning. Another 80 centimeters could fall through Tuesday morning.
