India has celebrated its Republic Day with a huge military parade in New Delhi. Sunday's festivities marked the anniversary of the Constitution coming into effect in 1950, after independence from British rule.

Soldiers marched in seamless rhythm. The army's Daredevils motorbike display team performed stunts and fighter jets roared overhead. Tens of thousands gathered in the capital to admire the spectacle.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the guest of honor.

The pageant showcased India's domestic arms production. The country has long depended on Moscow for armaments amid border tensions with China and Pakistan. But as Russia's invasion of Ukraine drags on, New Delhi is ramping up production of "Made in India" weaponry.
