Myanmar's ruling military junta has extended a ceasefire with pro-democracy forces until April 30. The move is meant to facilitate relief and reconstruction efforts following last month's devastating earthquake that killed more than 3,700 people and left over 100 others missing. Despite the declaration, there are reports of military operations, including airstrikes, in various regions. A representative for the pro-democracy forces told NHK that intermittent airstrikes in the northwestern Sagaing region have led to civilian casualties. The rebels strongly condemned the junta's actions and accused it of undermining the ceasefire. For its part, the military has accused the rebels of launching drone attacks on its bases and facilities in the country's north and east. It is unclear if sufficient humanitarian aid is reaching quake victims amid the continuing hostilities.
