The benchmark index for the Tokyo Stock Exchange set an all-time intraday high on Thursday. It has taken more than 34 years for the Nikkei 225 to reach that level. The index crossed the 39,000 line for the first time ever. A surge in Tokyo share prices came after major US chipmaker Nvidia posted better-than expected earnings for the latest quarter. The Nikkei index's previous record was 38,957 during trading on December 29th, 1989. Japan's asset-inflated bubble burst afterward followed by a 30-year economic slump.
