A group of officials from Japan&#039;s ruling coalition met with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Wednesday. They discussed pending bilateral issues, including China&#039;s possible resumption of Japanese seafood imports at an early date.
                
On Tuesday, the Japanese delegation, led by the secretary-general of the Liberal Democratic Party, Moriyama Hiroshi, and his Komeito counterpart, Nishida Makoto, attended a meeting of the Japan-China Ruling Party Exchange Council in Beijing.
                
At the start of Wednesday&#039;s meeting, Li said the bilateral ties are now at a crucial point in their improvement and development. He added that he hopes both countries will work to develop healthy and stable ties to the benefit of both peoples.
                
Moriyama said the delegation was able to exchange views with many key people in China over bilateral ties and the two countries&#039; role in the international community in the future.
                
Noting that the meeting is the last in a series, he expressed his hope to frankly discuss with Li what is necessary to make the peoples of the two countries appreciate improved bilateral relations.
                
Nishida said improvements in Japan-China relations are gaining momentum.
                
The Japanese side conveyed concerns about the Chinese military&#039;s increasing activities around Japan.
                
The two sides exchanged views on North Korea&#039;s nuclear and missile development and abductions of Japanese citizens.
                
The Japanese delegation expressed the hope that Li will visit Japan, and confirmed the importance of deepening bilateral ties.
                
During the meeting, the delegation handed Li a letter from Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru to Chinese President Xi Jinping.
