US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says she intends to discuss ways to strengthen support for Ukraine with the other finance chiefs of the Group of 20 economies.
Yellen was speaking to reporters in Gandhinagar, western India, on Sunday. India will host a two-day meeting of the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors from Monday.
Yellen noted that the main topic of the meeting will be to redouble the G20 members' support for Ukraine as the country continues to defend itself against what she called Russia's "illegal and unprovoked attack."
She said the United States will continue to cut off Russia's access to the military equipment and technologies that Moscow needs to wage war against Ukraine.
She added that the US and its coalition will crack down on Russia's efforts to evade sanctions.
Yellen said the G20 members will also discuss debt restructuring in emerging economies, as their debt problems have been worsened by inflation.
Regarding China, Yellen expressed hope for better bilateral relations, but said it would be "premature" to eliminate the tariffs on Chinese products that were imposed by the administration of former President Donald Trump.
