Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi says the Russian invasion of Ukraine must not end in a way that makes Russia the winner, adding that a just and lasting peace in Ukraine is needed.
                
Iwaya made the remarks in a panel discussion on the security of Europe and Asia at the Munich Security Conference in Germany on Saturday.
                
He said Russia&#039;s invasion of Ukraine caused the world order to start collapsing and that naturally could have a significant impact on the situation in Asia. He indicated his view that the security of Europe and that of the Indo-Pacific are inseparable.
                
Iwaya said a move towards peace in Ukraine has started and he has high hopes for the United States&#039; leadership.
He made the comment apparently with US President Donald Trump&#039;s willingness to swiftly end the conflict in mind.
                
But Iwaya added that a wrong message will be sent to China and the world unless the invasion is ended in the right way.
