An international motor show is set to begin in Thailand on Wednesday amid increasingly hot competition in the electric vehicle market.
The Bangkok International Motor Show will be held in a suburb of the country's capital, and 49 car brands from different countries will take part.
The organizer allowed media to get a glimpse of the venue ahead of the event's opening.
Automakers have been bringing a series of their EV models into the Thai market.
Chinese carmaker Changan Automobile unveiled its new compact EV car with a relatively low price tag of about 13,200 dollars, targeting female and young customers.
Vietnamese EV maker VinFast announced its entry into the market this year.
South Korea's Hyundai Motor is also highlighting its EV models in the motor show.
The Thai arm of Toyota Motor says Japanese automakers had long maintained a market share of around 90 percent in Thailand, but the figure dropped to below 80 percent last year.
Among them, Isuzu Motors has unveiled a prototype of an EV pickup truck, which is popular in Thailand. The company plans to start producing the model in the country from 2025.
Toyota and Mitsubishi Motors are trying to catch up with their rivals, stressing the environmental performance of their hybrid vehicles.
