Putin greets N.Korean general at military parade in Moscow NHK

Russian President Vladimir Putin has greeted a North Korean delegation at a military parade marking the Soviet Union's victory in World War Two. He was seen embracing deputy chief of the army's general staff, Kim Yong Bok.



The event was held on Friday in Moscow's Red Square. Leaders from more than 20 countries took part, including Chinese President Xi Jinping.



North Korea was not among 13 nations that sent troops to join the parade. But Pyongyang did send a delegation of senior military officials.



Putin was seen shaking hands and embracing with Kim. The Russian leader offered his best wishes to all North Korean soldiers.



Pyongyang has sent soldiers to Russia's western Kursk region to help Russia fight Ukrainian forces engaged in cross-border operations.



Putin thanked North Korea's special forces in a statement last month, saying Russia will never forget their achievements.



North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited the Russian Embassy on Friday in Pyongyang. He vowed to continue developing their alliance.
