A: Hey there! Did you hear about that event in New York last night?

B: No, what was it?

A: It was the Project Health Minds Gala. They were giving an award to Prince Harry and Meghan for their work with The Parents Network.

B: Oh, I didn't know that! What's The Parents Network about?

A: Well, it's a part of their nonprofit Archewell Foundation. They support families who have been affected by social media in a bad way. For example, they held an event where the faces of children who lost their lives due to social media were shown on big screens.

B: Wow, that's heavy stuff. I had no idea it was that serious.

A: Yeah, it is. The whole event was about how social media affects mental health, especially in young people. Prince Harry said there are over 4000 families who have linked their child's harm to social media and are fighting against some of the biggest corporations in the world. He also called out Apple and Meta for privacy violations and harmful interactions with AI chatbots.

B: That sounds really scary. I mean, we use social media everyday, but if it's causing so much harm...

A: Exactly! And he said that families are up against corporations who spend millions to suppress the truth. He even announced a partnership between The Parents Network and another organization called ParentsTogether to do more work protecting children from social media.

B: Wow, it's good they're doing something about it. I wonder what else he had to say at the event?

A: Well, he also talked about how young people are struggling in a world dominated by technology. He said that anxiety and depression are up, children are struggling in school, and they don't know how to handle conflict in real life because they spend too much time online. He also mentioned that there is even a lessening of proper boredom time - which is when you just stare ahead while waiting or looking out the window during a car ride.

B: I had no idea it was that bad. It makes me think twice about how much time I spend on social media.

A: Yeah, it's definitely something to think about. But he ended on a hopeful note, saying that when parents come together, they can make a difference and build the movement that all families deserve. So, let's be more mindful of our time online and support each other in creating a better digital world for our kids!
