More than 2,000 people including tourists have evacuated from the Greek island of Rhodes due to a raging wildfire, as a heatwave is sweeping across parts of southern Europe. The wildfire started on Tuesday amid high temperatures. It's been spreading, fanned by strong winds. Local media say at least three hotels were damaged and tourists are evacuating by ship. Images taken on Saturday show people gathered at a beach and suitcases being brought onto boats. Coast guard and navy vessels, as well as more than 20 private boats, are helping the operation. The Greek fire department says that more than 170 firefighters aided with helicopters are battling the blaze but it is not yet under control. Wildfires were also reported near Athens and elsewhere in Greece this week. Reuters news agency says the Greek authorities are warning of a very high risk of more wildfires as the temperatures are expected to rise to 45 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
