Trump says he will surrender to Georgia authorities on Thursday NHK

Former US President Donald Trump says he will surrender himself to authorities in Georgia on Thursday to face charges he tried to overturn his election loss in the state three years ago.

Trump and 18 others, including his lawyers, were indicted by Georgia's grand jury this month for allegedly pressuring authorities to reverse the state's election result in the 2020 presidential race.

The state prosecutor had demanded that Trump and his co-defendants surrender by Friday noon.

Trump posted on social media on Monday, "I'll be going to Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday to be ARRESTED by a Radical Left District Attorney, Fani Willis."

State authorities have emphasized that the case will be treated no differently from others.

US media reports suggest Trump could be fingerprinted and photographed.

No bond was set for Trump's three previous indictments, but this time, he faces a bond of 200,000 dollars.

Trump has pleaded not guilty to all four indictments.
