North Korea's foreign minister has reacted sharply to the statement issued jointly by the foreign ministers of Japan, the United States and South Korea condemning Pyongyang for supplying weapons and munitions to Russia.
The statement on Thursday said that they confirmed that weapons deliveries from North Korea to Russia have taken place several times recently.
It also said that such deliveries "will significantly increase the human toll of Russia's war of aggression" in Ukraine.
North Korea's state-run news agency carried a statement of its foreign minister Choe Son Hui on Saturday.
She called the statement by the three countries "the most politicized document that seriously distorted the friendly and cooperative relations" between North Korea and Russia.
She added that it opposed the universal principles of international law.
Choe went on to say that if peace and security in the region are endangered due to the persistent moves of the US, Japan and South Korea, the North Korea and Russia relations will act as a powerful strategic element to contain such a situation.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed last month to enhance strategic relations when they met for the first time in 4 years.
North Korea confirmed that it will faithfully implement the agreements with Russia when Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited North Korea last week.
Washington said there are indications that North Korea delivered well over 1,000 shipping containers of munitions and other military supplies to Russia from September to October.
It believes that Pyongyang is seeking military assistance in return.
