Sony Group appoints new CEO NHK

Sony Group says its President Totoki Hiroki will replace Chief Executive Officer Yoshida Kenichiro, who held the job for seven years.

The company made the decision at a board meeting on Wednesday, and it takes effect April 1.

Yoshida will remain as the group's chairman with representative authority.

Sixty-year-old Totoki joined Sony in 1987. He became president in 2023 after serving positions such as representative director of Sony Bank.

The company has been strengthening its entertainment business including anime, music and movies. It formed a capital and business alliance with major Japanese publisher Kadokawa last month.

The company apparently aims to boost its strategy by appointing Totoki as CEO.
