Japan's Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko has announced emergency assistance worth 1 million dollars for quake-hit Taiwan.
She told reporters on Friday that the aid will be sent via the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association. The funds are for food, water, healthcare supplies and other items.
Kamikawa said the people of Taiwan have generously provided assistance to areas of central Japan hit by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake on New Year's Day.
She said Japan will provide support based on what is needed to help Taiwan recover and rebuild as soon as possible.
