A bomb explosion on a railway in southern Thailand has left 3 people dead, in the latest of a recent series of blasts in the country. Tuesday morning's explosion struck about 400 meters from the site of the weekend's railway bomb attack in Songkhla Province. The latest blast killed three railway workers and injured four others. Saturday's attack derailed more than half of a 20-car freight train traveling to neighboring Malaysia. Local media reported that workers were repairing the damaged tracks when the latest blast took place. No one has claimed responsibility for the incidents. In recent weeks, a series of bomb explosions has shaken the country's deep south, where Islamic insurgents are seeking independence from the Buddhist majority nation. A car bomb was detonated inside a police compound in Narathiwat Province in late November, killing a police officer and injuring 30 other people.
