Ukraine's military says Russian forces have launched fresh missile attacks across the country, leaving at least one dead and damaging the country's infrastructure. The Ukrainian military's Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi stated on social media on Thursday "Russia again targeted Ukraine's critical infrastructure with missiles." He wrote that during the early hours on Thursday, the "enemy fired air- and sea-launched cruise missiles, guided anti-aircraft and anti-ship missiles." Zaluzhnyl said that 36 Russian missiles were fired by the Tupolev-22M3 and Tupolev-95 strategic bombers as well as by the Russian fleet in the Black Sea. He said that the Ukrainian forces shot down 16 of the 36 Russian missiles. The governor of the eastern Ukrainian region of Dnipropetrovsk, Serhiy Lysak, said that the latest Russian strikes killed a 79-year-old woman and damaged her residence, and two people were transported to hospital for injuries. The Ukrainian Air Force says the Russians again used a Kh-22 anti-ship missile to destroy critical infrastructure. The same missile hit a residential building in Dnipro in January, leaving many residents there dead or injured. The latest wave of Russian missile strikes came immediately after NATO defense ministers wrapped up their two-day meeting on Wednesday with an agreement to ramp up the production of munitions, which will be supplied to Ukraine as part of the alliance's additional military support for the country. Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar said in a social media post on Wednesday that Russia's offensive continues in the east with round-the-clock attacks, and the situation is tense. She added that Russia has dispatched about 500 hastily-trained soldiers every week. Russia is apparently intensifying its offensives against Ukraine in the run-up to the one-year anniversary of its invasion on February 24.
