Rescue workers in Indonesia are struggling to find people trapped under the rubble after a magnitude 5.6 quake struck the West Java province on Monday. The country's national disaster agency has confirmed 272 deaths so far. The agency says about 2,000 people have been injured and 39 others remain unaccounted for. The critical 72-hour window to find survivors passed on Thursday afternoon. In the hard-hit Cianjur district, landslides triggered by the quake have buried houses and vehicles. The Indonesian government has sent about 320 rescuers and five rescue dogs to a major landslide site where 30 people, or more than 70 percent of the missing, are believed to be trapped. But they have been forced to suspend the operation frequently due to rain and tremors. About 20 heavy machines have not been used. Indonesian President Joko Widodo visited an affected area on Thursday. He ordered officials to make rescuing trapped people their top priority and take precautions against a secondary disaster. Some 60,000 people have taken shelter in makeshift tents.
