A survey shows that more than 60 percent of Ukrainians support ending the conflict with Russia under a scenario that includes territorial concessions and NATO membership that provides real security guarantees.

The Kyiv International Institute of Sociology on Friday released the results of its survey conducted last month.

Thirty-eight percent of respondents say Ukraine may give up some of its territories to achieve peace as soon as possible, and preserve its independence.

That's up 6 percentage points from the previous survey in October, and the highest since the first poll was taken in May 2022.

Fifty-one percent said under no circumstances should Ukraine give up any of its territories -- down 7 percentage points from the last time.

Survey participants were given three options for ending the war.

Sixty-four percent, or the largest proportion, chose an option in which Russia retains control over the two regions in the east, two others in the south and Crimea, while Ukraine becomes a NATO member covered by real security guarantees, and a member of the European Union.

But 21 percent said this package was completely unacceptable.

The institute noted Ukrainians are ready to discuss possible and even difficult options.
It said Ukrainians are stressing their current priority is to obtain security guarantees that will make future Russian aggression impossible.
