Officials in Ishikawa Prefecture say 126 people have been confirmed dead and 222 remain unaccounted for after a powerful earthquake struck central Japan on New Year's Day. Their updated report says, as of 9 a.m. on Sunday, 69 deaths had been confirmed in Wajima City, 38 in Suzu City, nine in Anamizu Town, five in Nanao City, two each in Noto Town and Shika Town, and one in Hakui Town. Prefectural officials say at least 560 people were injured in the prefecture. The officials also say those still unaccounted for include 106 people in Wajima City, 89 in Suzu City, 14 in Noto Town, nine in Anamizu Town, two in Nanao City and one each in Hakui City and Shika Town. The officials have released the names and ages of those unaccounted for to seek information about their whereabouts. The missing persons are reportedly aged from three to 95 years old.
