Japan working for tariff agreement with US on sidelines of G7 summit NHK

A: Hey there! Did you catch any recent news?
B: Nope, what's up?

A: There's some drama going on with Japan and the US about those Trump tariffs. They're trying to sort it out at the G7 summit.
B: Really? What do we know so far?

A: Well, Prime Minister Ishiba is gonna visit Canada for the summit, and he's planning to have a chat with President Trump about it.
B: Oh, I see. And what did our prime minister say during the Diet debate?

A: He said things are moving slowly but surely, and it really depends on President Trump's decision in the end. As for where they're at now, he couldn't really tell us.
B: Sounds like a tough negotiation!

A: Yep, our economic revitalization minister is flying to Washington today for talks. It'll be his sixth visit in as many weeks! He's determined to work out an agreement with US officials.
B: Whoa, that's commitment! So they're aiming for a ministerial meeting before the possible Ishiba-Trump summit?

A: Exactly! They want to get something sorted out beforehand if possible.
