Health ministry confirms 14,525 new COVID-19 cases in Tokyo on Friday NHK

Japan's health ministry says it confirmed 14,525 new cases of the coronavirus in Tokyo on Friday, down 2,807 from a week ago.

The daily tally has marked a week-on-week decline for three straight days.

The ministry also reported 26 deaths in the capital.

The number of seriously ill patients on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines was 48, up one from Thursday.

Nationwide, 148,784 new infections and 326 deaths were confirmed on Friday.
