N.Korea fires ballistic missile NHK

Japan's Defense Ministry says North Korea fired a ballistic missile on Sunday for the second day in a row. It appears to have fallen into the sea outside Japan's exclusive economic zone.

The ministry says the missile was launched from the country's west coast. It apparently flew eastward for about 350 kilometers. It reached a maximum altitude of about 100 kilometers, and landed in the sea off the east coast of the Korean Peninsula.

Japan's Defense Minister Hamada Yasukazu said Tokyo has lodged a protest against the North through diplomatic channels in Beijing.
