Russian President Vladimir Putin has reiterated his resolve to continue the invasion of Ukraine in his New Year's address. Putin gave his annual televised speech to the people on Sunday, New Year's Eve. Putin hailed Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine as "heroes." He said Russians will never retreat because there is no force that can divide Russia to prevent its development. In December, Putin declared his candidacy for the presidential election scheduled for March 2024.
