Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary says the government will closely examine the effects of trade talks between the United States and China, before responding accordingly.
Hayashi Yoshimasa spoke to reporters on Tuesday about any impact the talks between the two global powers could have on Japan's negotiations with the United States.
He said Japan will closely monitor developments with a high level of interest. He said the circumstances and positions of each country vary, so it stands to reason that the schedule for talks, the contents of agreements, timing and other factors will differ.
Hayashi said Japan and the US have decided to hold talks frankly and constructively, reach an agreement and have their leaders make an announcement as soon as possible.
He said the government will continue to work as one while taking the results of previous talks into account. He said it will prioritize this issue and make an all-out effort.
