Zelenskyy calls for international meeting in July to discuss peace plan NHK

Ukraine's presidential office says President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for a summit-level international conference in July to seek support for his proposal for peace.

Zelenskyy made the call during an outreach session at the Group of Seven summit in Hiroshima that included non-G7 leaders.

Zelenskyy has been promoting the 10-point peace plan, which includes restoring Ukrainian territorial integrity.

Zelenskyy said during the summit session on Sunday, "As long as Russian invaders remain on our land, no one will sit down at the negotiating table with Russia."

He added that "the world has enough power to force Russia to restore peace step by step."

Noting that the full-scale war will reach 500 days in July, Zelenskyy said, "that is a symbolic period of time, a good month to convene the Summit of the Peace Formula."

He called the proposed meeting "the summit of all those who uphold honesty and are determined to bring this war to an end," and invited the leaders to "join in the common efforts."
