A subway operator in Osaka, western Japan, has invited passengers to test-ride a new carriage ahead of the world expo scheduled for 2025.
The Osaka Metro 400 series was manufactured to coincide with the extension of the subway's Chuo Line to Yumeshima, where the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, will be held.
A ceremony was held on Saturday at Morinomiya station ahead of the carriage's debut on Sunday.
About 30 people who had applied in advance took a ride from Morinomiya to Cosmosquare station.
The design of the front car is inspired by a spacecraft.
The carriage is fitted with LCD signage in four languages.
One of the test riders said the interior colors are easy on her eyes. She said she wants to ride the new carriage to visit the expo with her family.
