The Israeli military says they killed Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, after a ceasefire came into effect. Focus is on whether the ceasefire will continue, as the Lebanese Shia Muslim group is poised to fight back.
                
No major armed clash has been reported after the ceasefire started early on Wednesday.
                
Residents who had fled from their homes in southern Lebanon started returning after the two countries&#039; governments accepted the ceasefire deal.
                
But Israeli forces have kept some areas cordoned off in Israeli-seized southern Lebanon, warning residents there not to go back.
                
A spokesperson of the Israeli military said on Wednesday night that their forces identified some people suspected of approaching restricted areas and detained them during the day.  He said they also eliminated Hezbollah operatives. The military officer warned, &quot;Any violation of the ceasefire will be met with fire.&quot;
                
Hezbollah, on its part, made a statement about its determination to continue with its resistance.
                
It remains uncertain whether the two sides can continue to observe the ceasefire, and whether the Lebanese army can move in to monitor the peace-keeping process.
                
As to the conflict in the Gaza Strip, Arab media outlets reported that a delegation from Egypt, a mediator of ceasefire talks between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas, will visit Israel on Wednesday. Observers are watching whether the visit will lead to a resumption of the ceasefire talks.
