Hamas releases another Israeli hostage, totaling 8 so far in current ceasefire NHK

The Islamic group Hamas released eight hostages on Thursday, three Israelis and five Thais. They're the third batch of captives to be released in a swap between Hamas and Israel.

The Israeli military said a female soldier was the first to be freed, followed by two civilians hours later.

Hamas has promised to free 33 hostages under the agreement for the six-week ceasefire in the Gaza Strip that started on January 19. Seven female hostages had already been released. Israel has freed 290 Palestinian prisoners in exchange.

Israel's Prime Minister's Office announced that Hamas released five Thai hostages separately from the framework of the ceasefire agreement.
