The storm destroyed billboards, roofs, power poles, and trees, while flooding streets, especially in the capital Hanoi. 3. Over 44,000 people had to evacuate due to the typhoon, which also damaged more than 6,800 homes and nearly 30,000 hectares of rice fields. Weather officials stated that the typhoon weakened into a tropical depression as it moved into central Laos, with heavy rains expected to continue in the region.
