Chinese man executed for killing 35 people in Zhuhai car attack NHK

China's state-run Xinhua News Agency says a man who was sentenced to death for driving a car into a crowd, killing 35 people, has been executed.

The attack took place last November in the city of Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. The man was in his 60s.

Chinese President Xi Jinping instructed authorities after the incident to impose severe punishment and make the utmost effort to maintain social stability.

With the swift execution, about two months after the incident, Chinese authorities apparently want to demonstrate their stern stance to prevent similar incidents.
