A South Korean joint investigation team refiled a warrant at a court on Monday to extend the deadline to detain impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol. The existing warrant is due to expire later in the day. The team has obtained the warrant for Yoon on grounds of insurrection for orchestrating his short-lived martial law declaration. The team members entered the grounds of Yoon's residence on Friday to execute the warrant but they were blocked by presidential security service. Also on Monday, the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, part of the joint team, announced its intention to entirely entrust police with the warrant's execution. But police in the team say they will consult with the office on the matter. Police sources told the country's media that next time they will be more aggressive in order to detain Yoon, on the premise that the deadline for the refiled warrant will be extended. The sources also disclosed that police are considering taking presidential security service staff into custody if they physically block the team from serving the refiled warrant again. Meanwhile, Yoon's defense lawyers said on Monday that they filed complaints at prosecutors against 11 people, including the chief of the Corruption Investigation Office, who were involved in Friday's attempt to serve the warrant.
