Leaders in Asia have responded to Donald Trump&#039;s victory in the US presidential election.
                
Japan&#039;s Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru says he respects the democratic choice of the American people. Ishiba said: &quot;I hope to further bolster the Japan-US alliance to a higher level while closely coordinating with the next president. I want to make efforts to contact Trump as soon as possible.&quot;
                
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted photos of him with Trump on X. He said he looks forward to renewing their collaboration to further strengthen India-US ties.
                
South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol also hailed Trump&#039;s win. He said the future of the South Korea-US alliance will &quot;shine brighter&quot; under Trump&#039;s strong leadership.
                
Taiwan President Lai Ching-te said he&#039;s confident the longstanding Taiwan-US partnership, built on shared values and interests, &quot;will continue to serve as a cornerstone for regional stability.&quot;
                
Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said China respects the choice of the American people, adding it&#039;s an internal matter for the US. Mao said: &quot;China&#039;s US policy has been consistent. We&#039;ll continue to handle it based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation.&quot;
                
Asked whether Chinese President Xi Jinping will send a congratulatory message to Trump, Mao said China will deal with the matter in line with tradition after the results are officially announced.
