Thirteen climbers have been found dead following Sunday's massive volcanic eruption in West Sumatra, Indonesia. Search operations by teams consisting of 200 local rescuers are underway for 10 climbers still missing on Mount Marapi. But they are facing difficulties due to frequent minor eruptions. On Tuesday morning at least five eruptions were confirmed. Abdul Malik, head of National Search and Rescue Agency for Padang Region, said, "Since this morning, volcanic ash has fallen, making it difficult for the team to see conditions on the mountain." Indonesia's volcanology agency says it has been telling local authorities since 2011 to warn hikers not to come within 3 kilometers of the crater due to the threat of sudden eruptions. Most of the victims were found near the volcano's crater. Officials say climbing permits were issued after getting the green light from various local agencies. They denied violating climbing safety. There were 75 people registered to hike Mount Marapi when it blew its top on Sunday.
