The Ukrainian military says its missile strike on a Russian shipyard in Crimea on Saturday damaged a naval vessel so badly that it may not be repairable. The military's department for strategic communications said on social media on Monday that the vessel is a state-of-the-art ship capable of carrying cruise missiles. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised the military in a video uploaded on Monday, saying "another source of Russian terror against Ukraine has been eliminated." The Russian defense ministry has acknowledged that one vessel was damaged in the attack. The shipyard is close to the Kerch Strait that lies between southern Russia and the Crimean Peninsula, which Moscow unilaterally annexed in 2014. The British defense ministry said in its intelligence update on Tuesday that the attack on the shipyard "is farther to the east in Crimea than most previous Ukrainian-claimed long-range strikes." It also said, "Ukraine's capability to hit Crimea shipbuilding infrastructure will likely cause Russia to consider relocating farther from the front line, delaying the delivery of new vessels." The Russian defense ministry announced on Tuesday that its air defense systems destroyed and intercepted 17 Ukrainian drones over the Black Sea and the territory of Crimea.
