Tokyo's benchmark Nikkei Stock Average marked an all-time high on Friday for the second-straight session, partly on a weaker yen. This came after all three major indexes in New York closed at record highs for two days in a row. The Nikkei 225 ended the day 72 points higher, or 0.2 percent, from the previous day, finishing the week at 40,888. It rose more than 270 points at one stage during the session. Investors bought export-related shares on the yen's depreciation against the dollar. The Nikkei index has racked up gains for the last four trading days. The rally started on Monday, the day before the Bank of Japan raised interest rates for the first time in 17 years. Many investors believe the central bank will keep its monetary easing for the time being and expect the wide gap in interest rates between Japan and the US to continue.
