Japanese financial firms are looking at ways to be more transparent about their environmental impact as part of a push across the corporate sector to go green. The move follows the UN's COP15 biodiversity convention last month. A framework adopted there requires multinational firms and financial companies to monitor and reveal their ecological footprint. From next month, Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group will work with a non-life insurance company to research how they can do this. They aim to eventually share the results with their trading partners. Mitsubishi UFJ and Mizuho are among other financial institutions considering similar measures.
