Turkey says the attack on an aerospace and defense company on Wednesday was carried out by two members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK. The Turkish government said five people were killed and 22 wounded in a gunfight between the two attackers and security forces at Turkish Aerospace Industries near the capital Ankara. The assailants were killed in the fight. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Thursday that the two assailants were identified as members of the PKK, which the Turkish government and Western nations have designated as a terrorist group. The Turkish government said it carried out airstrikes on 47 terrorist targets in northern Iraq and northern Syria. Turkey has been hit by PKK attacks in the past. The Turkish military has retaliated by striking Kurdish militant targets allegedly affiliated with the PKK in northern Iraq and northern Syria. Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler stressed that military operations "will continue resolutely and without compromise."
